World Rare Disease Day
February 28th
Every year, on the last day of February , Rare Disease Day is celebrated. Learn more at https://www.rarediseaseday.org/
The World Health Organization (WHO) considers a rare disease to be one that affects up to 65 people in every 100,000, which equates to approximately 1 case in every 1,500 people. These diseases are mostly genetic and present significant challenges in diagnosis, treatment, and research due to their low prevalence.
Ataxias are rare diseases, some ultra-rare , with one case per 100,000 individuals, or even one case per million individuals in certain regions. Therefore, this page shares videos of people with different types of ataxia, aiming to raise awareness of this still little-known disease.
