Abahe (Brazilian Association of Hereditary Ataxias) sent a warning message today to the three ministers of the Supreme Federal Court who have not yet expressed their vote regarding RE 1366243, which may restrict judicial access to essential medicines.
According to Abahe, the Court risks causing irreparable harm to those with rare or ultra-rare diseases. "If the rapporteur's vote prevails as it stands, restrictions on the supply of medicines will be so severe that many patients will not be able to access the treatments they need, and this decision will be a tragic sentence for 13 million Brazilians," Abahe's message added.
