Ataxia.info – Privacy Policy

Ataxia.info respects your privacy in accordance with Brazil’s General Data Protection Law (LGPD). This website’s Privacy Policy explains when and for what purpose visitors’ personal data is collected, under what conditions such data is shared, and how it is protected.

1. Legal Basis

The collection and use of personal data of Brazilian citizens on the ataxia.info website is based on the provisions of the LGPD (Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados Pessoais, Law 13.709/18) and on best practices established in technical standards such as ISO 27701. Hereinafter, the term “Contact” refers to anonymous visitors who voluntarily filled out the Contact form of the site, located on the “Contact” page accessible via the footer from any page.

2. Personal Data Collected

The “Contact” form may collect – if voluntarily provided by the visitor – the following personal data: First name, Last name, Email, and Phone number. These data are kept confidential and securely stored in the cloud (see item 5.1), being available only to the site administrators on the WIX platform. Visiting users who access the site cannot view personal data provided by other users.

3. Purpose of Storing Personal and Sensitive Data

The form available on the “Contact” page is intended to allow administrators to contact portal users who submitted questions, reported errors, or made suggestions for improvements regarding the portal’s content. In some cases, support may be provided online through the WIX Chat (see item 4.2), but in many others it will not be possible to respond to the user in real time. Therefore, Contact messages are forwarded by email to the administrators and answered as soon as possible.

4. Consent

Visitors are explicitly informed on the “Contact” page that by providing their own data, they consent to the collection of the data mentioned in item 2, for the purposes described in item 3 above. Visitors are also directed to consult this Privacy Policy page, which is accessible at any time via the link available in the footer of all pages of the Portal. In these terms, voluntarily providing personal data will be considered as clear manifestation of consent by the visitor for the storage of such data on the ataxia.info website.

4.1. Minors

The Contact form is not intended to deliberately collect information provided directly by individuals under 16 years of age. A message is displayed on the “Contact” form warning that minors must NOT fill out the form themselves and should instead ask their guardians to provide the information if deemed appropriate.

 

4.2. Interaction via WIX Chat

The portal provides a Chat Bot (virtual assistant) on the HOME and CONTACT pages, intended to provide initial support and answer user questions in real time, 24/7. Messages sent through the Chat are also forwarded by email, enabling responses outside business hours.

5. Data Controller and Processor

Ataxia.info is a website with public, free, and non-commercial access maintained by volunteers and does not constitute a legal entity of its own. The author (CPF) is the controller and operator of these data. WIX is responsible for hosting the ataxia.info website in the cloud, storing the data, and transmitting them securely.

5.1. About the WIX Platform

Wix.com was founded in 2006 in Israel. It is an online platform for website creation and editing that allows users to create HTML5 and Mobile sites and host them in the cloud without prior knowledge of programming or design. • Wix hosts websites on a global content delivery network (CDN), a collection of connected secure servers located worldwide. Visitors are automatically directed to the nearest server, so that the site loads as quickly as possible regardless of where it is accessed. This system is called “multi-cloud storage,” a solution that uses AWS (Amazon Cloud), Google Cloud, and Wix’s internal servers.

• Security: Stored data is encrypted, and all website traffic is also encrypted using SSL/TLS. The platform complies with international security standards.

• Backup: Website backup is automatic, enabling sites to be restored in the unlikely event of downtime.

• Availability: Wix guarantees 99.9% uptime (high availability) for hosted websites.

 

The ataxia.info website may use “Cookies” and other technologies to better understand user behavior, for security purposes, and to provide better services. Visitors are automatically notified about the use of Cookies upon first access to the site, and may authorize their use if they agree to proceed. Visitors may also choose to authorize only essential Cookies for access and disable optional ones (e.g., for marketing purposes).

6. Data Subject Rights

The LGPD grants rights to all data subjects, and the administrators of the ataxia.info site will, in good faith, make their best efforts to ensure that such rights are observed, in accordance with its general principles and rules. For example, visitors who provided personal data through the Contact form have, among others, the following rights:

• Request information about which personal data is collected, and request copies of such data.

• Request the correction of personal data that is incorrect or incomplete (e.g., if they submitted their name or phone number with an error; in such case they may use the Contact form itself to request correction).

• Withdraw consent and request that their personal data stored as a Contact be deleted.

In the event of consent withdrawal and data deletion requests, the data subject will be informed of the impacts that deletion may cause. If there are legal conditions justifying data retention, these will be duly communicated to the data subject.
